The Earth is the Lord's and everything in it.

The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it,

the world, and all who live in it;

for he founded it on the seas

and established it on the waters.

Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord?

Who may stand in his holy place?

The one who has clean hands and a pure heart,

who does not trust in an idol

or swear by a false god.
Psalm 24

As we search and seek spiritual life and hope,

for something,

anything,

that transcends

the industrial realities of our modern western world

can hurry us on,

push us,

drive us to missing

so many wonders.

Why did God go to so much detail in the beauty of creation?

He did it everywhere on the planet.

and

especially in Bali

Slow down to Bali pace,

open wide

the eyes of your heart,

and a

remarkable people,

will spill in.

Possibly some wonder

and the

most delicate beauty

will call out to you.

Do you see the

the order

of the Balinese?

The Art.

The inspiration

If stone could speak....

Our deep hopes might find some levity,

some lift,

maybe a voice,

some redemption?

Good and evil wrestle in stone all over Bali.

Water,
Welling up from the ground

The Water Temple

Cleanse, free, bring separation from the
fallen hopes, broken pieces of our lives.

Pour some merit over us?

Calling out and rising up from basic elements of the earth.
Water,
does it carry transcendence?

The art, the history, the story told as powerful beauty
is the same water that wells up in my mountains.
The same water the Psalm says belongs to the LORD.
The same water cycling through the earth
to become our drinking water miles away.

Transcendence in stone?
In Water?

The beauty and craft of the human spirit

pours over you in Bali.

And the fiery

fearful

powers behind so much human

suffering,
poverty,
and economic disparity demand an audience.

They are shadows.

Hints and offerings again and again,

proving their inability to heal us.

Christ, the one time offering,

by blood and righteousness,

cleanses the world of sin and

destroys the separation.

So we pray. Seek. Cry out to the Father for Bali.

While we move in and walk through her many wonders.

Bali invites us deeper with a sense of mystery.
Into doors whispering of something beyond.

I've found amazing divine appointments behind so many of them.
Yet, they do lead into the same kind of world as is painted all over Bali.

The Father of Lights invites us into an eternal DOOR.
In Christ, it is a never ending land of freedom and love.

No more gates to bar the way to Christ's eternal presence.

In Bali, it is deeper into a raw and earthly perspective,
fear wells up like the water of the temple.

There is an invitation to walk up the stairs and into a doorway between
Good and evil.

A story going on and on,
like a giant tree growing in the world, a story we cannot change.

This yearning cry for life
churning in cycles of
offering and
ritual holds a fragile world together. Hoping to appease, hold off something worse.

The invitation -- come into this world of in between.

Daily offerings to keeping the peace.

Who is in between?

We are.

In truth,
Jesus walked right up these steps.
Right into this world painted so beautifully...

And he satisfied the offering table.
He started growing a new tree. And he overcame the evil of this world, and the grip of this world reflecting its vision in the picture above.

So, I see Christ Jesus fulfilling, re-ordering, everything in this picture.
Honoring and keeping human beauty and completely destroying the fear.

He is the offering. Once for all.
