Awakening Everything Around You and in You.

I always marveled at the call in Revelation 2 for the Ephesian church to repent.

I stand at the door and knock.

It didn't quite make sense to me.

Repent for not having first love?

Why?

What was the basis of repentance?

Then, one day
it landed on me.

The response required in the love of God, of Jesus Christ, though the Holy Spirit...
must equal the revelation we have received of him.

Let me explain.
The Ephesian church was rich in revelation and understanding of Jesus Christ.
They carried a high calling as an apostolic fellowship.
Founded by Paul, they were a hub or a center of the NAME.
Yet with all the work, pressures, challenges, opposition and false teaching and teachers, they lost the most beautiful expression of knowing Jesus Christ.
FIRST LOVE.

What is it?

Affection
First affection. All affections. No higher affection. Resolute focus in steadfast love. Perfected love alive and aflame. Unquenchable presence.  Nothing in all the earth comparing to the affections for him.

Adoration
Adore. Acclaim. Be swallowed up by the magnitude of grace and glory in HIM.  Loss for words. Life pulsing through us.  Cells oozing love for him.  Revelation pouring forth of his goodness and hope.  The mind in complete stupor at his reverberating voice.

Awe
Struck Silent. Arrested by him. Complete enveloping amazement. Knocked off your horse.  Slain in the Spirit.  Weighty presence.  Holy silence.  Wind.

Wonder
How will this be so?  Wisdom and revelation Spirit.  Knowing without words. Hearing without sounds.  Souls abundant and bountiful freedom.  Riding on the Clouds he comes.  Moving among the poorest of the poor he redeems.

Living HOPE

Living Word
the NOW KINGDOM reality.

"Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God, who saved us and called us to[a] a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began,[b]10 and which now has been manifested through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesuswho abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel,  2 Timothy 1:8-10

They, like us, slid slowly.

Slowly sliding into a false teaching, a false mindset.  Simple changes.
Letting go of affection and worship in the Spirit of wisdom and revelation.
Sliding off into the Kingdom coming second, third, fourth on the list.
They slid into a mindset that lacked zeal, fire, consummation and prayer.
A mindset not measuring up to the wonder and awe, and the sheer majesty of the work of Jesus and his efficacious power.

The sin is approaching the Lord Jesus in a stoic, regularity, expecting nothing, hoping for nothing, wandering in the routines of church going and running round and round the merry go round of banqueting tables with no warfare.

It is only the religious and Laodicean who think they are vibrant and alive when none of the signs of the Kingdom remain.   It is the religious who settle for another day at church with no compelling involvement, no demands for grace activated in faith, no push for hope in the lives of the Saints.  A mindset that settles for things as they are and ideas that tell them this is perfectly ok and right and true.  Forms without power.

There is far to much happening in the Ekklesia of Jesus that is of little of no importance to the FIRST LOVE passion of a thriving Saint.

Repent?  Yes.

As we look more deeply into the faithful service of the grace imparted to us through the sacrifice of Jesus and his boundless, abundant, victory in the CROSS, RESURRECTION, AND ASCENSION to the right hand of the Father,

we see that the atmosphere's we settle for that lack first love passion
require repentance.
A new mind.
A new mindset.
An honor and love and adoration worship unto Jesus.

FIRST LOVE cannot be satisfied except by the object of our affection. JESUS. JESUS. JESUS.

It is deplorable for us to accept atmosphere's, worship, prayer, anything devoted to and in honor of Jesus that falls short of the wisdom and revelation we have received in him.

His love is boundless.
And so we are a boundless people of unending desire and love for HIM.

The Spirit and the Bride say, "COME".

Come to this fountain that fills the world with overcoming faith.
That lights the hopes of whole peoples.
That transforms the way we live each day.
That calls us into his presence and into carrying his presence everywhere.

The lack of desire.  The lack of affections fires, Does not bear witness to the absence of presence.

His promise is "I am with you always."

Rather is witnesses against us.

Our religious satisfactions have climbed up into our affections, into the revelations of his love.

They've blown a cold wind across our soul's naked and exposed places.

We've covered up love in response to the wind.

Rather than pour out and invite in the warmth of the Holy Spirit.

To welcome the Spirit to bring revelation of Jesus.
His heart for the Lord.
His relationship with Jesus.
The HEALER.
The restorer of our souls.

Instead we start out on the journey to find this first love in other churches, other places.
We search and search for what we already possess in abundance.
The Holy Spirit will quickly and easily restore our souls in HIM.
Restore our first love.
If.............................. we repent.

Yet, we are satisfied.
The occasional "God showed Up" service is enough for us.
We don't actually want love to shatter our lives, tear apart our high towers of accomplishment or spill over into our day to day lives.

Here is the problem.
He will not have an apostolic witness that walks with a satisfied and religious mind.
Lacking everything spiritual and longing for nothing.
He will not have a servant who complains of want and lack when he is so abundant in joy, overcoming power and life changing Spirit.
He will not have a church complacent who touts their hard work, patient endurance and clear and precise teaching but has lost the most weighty reality of all in the character of God.....HE is LOVE and MERCY.

Yes. We need to repent to restore first love.

You and I know what it looks like.

We also know what happens when the winds of the Spirit blow right through our lives and plans and perspectives.

Yet nothing is as good,
No one is as kind,
Nowhere is so amazing as his presence.
Overwhelmed in his love
Basking in the truth of his mercies.
Drenched in loving kindness
the oil of his presence running down the beard.

We were made for first love.  He has made every way for us to live in it always and forever. Oh what joy.

Lord, break down the religious satisfaction we so easily embrace.
Break up the ice formed on the lake of our souls.
Pour over our souls a fresh warm wind of the Holy Spirit.
Remind us again of the wonder and awe of the Son of God.
Refresh us in mind, heart and body.
Awaken us.
Awaken us.
Awaken us.
to FIRST LOVE again.

Jesus - living, alive, awake in power and love - Nothing about him speaks survival.

The way is exploding grace in front and all around us.

Kingdom Carriers

Holy Spirit wind walkers

Go ahead.  Run with HIM.

Finding Your Unshakable Voice in Jesus

Where does it come from?

Your Voice.

The inner life that spills out and walks in obedient love and service to Jesus.

Your Voice.
What he speaks in secret that you share from house tops.

Your Voice.
The unique witness of his loving kindness that only you carry, know and testify about.

Your Voice
What you have to say, wisdom from the journey of knowing him, seeing him, watching him move in you and the world around you.

YOUR VOICE
Where Word and Spirit meet in the ways of God and the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation.

You've got to find your VOICE.

"Listen! Listen to the roar of his voice, to the rumbling that comes from his mouth."Job 37:2

"My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me."  John 10:27

As we follow him, each day, we pick up new aspects of our voice in him.  His ways become our ways.  We gain new understanding and see him new and fresh.  We begin to sound like like him.  Speak like him.

So, why do we often lose our voice?

1. We move in and out of passion and the pursuit of God.

It is easy to live in the world, follow its currents, ways, culture and completely let go following Jesus.
The world will never scold you for it, point it out, call you back to Christ.  Of course not.  The Spirit will.  He will hound you, search after you, hover over you.  Because of his jealous love,  even when we are faithless, he remains faithful.

First lesson of following and retaining your voice in Jesus......  Emotions are not truth.  We don't need to feel God to know he is present or to know his presence.  When passion or feeling is our only affirmation of God's love, his presence, his life in us, we often find ourselves out in the middle of a desert where faith is required above any feeling.  In the desert feelings get crucified, corrected, brought under his righteousness.

The Kingdom is about learning his "ways".  The ways of the Spirit.  The ways of the Father.  Our ways are not the same as the Lord's.  The disciples proved this on occasion after occasion, over and over.  They often missed the way completely in favor of their way and their view, understanding and perception.   Jesus went on.  He kept on walking throughout the towns and villages. They continued to follow.
Commitment.  Yes. That word.   Yes.
Commitment carried them.

"Seek ye first the Kingdom and his righteousness and all these other things will be added to you."  Matthew 6:33

When all else failed or the way made no sense at all, they followed Jesus.  Literally walked behind him and went on the way.  Confused, confounded, concerned, they followed.  Astonished, arguing, debating, they followed.

Then he sent them out.
We're they prepared?  Did they feel prepared?  No, most likely not.  They seem to never feel prepared enough.  And we often feel the same way.  If their eyes were informed by the flesh and fearful they would never be ready to go.  If our
eyes are informed in the dead ways of our flesh and the
mind of the flesh, we like them will not be ready to go.

But they went.
Obedience. They went at the command of Jesus.

Following the commands of Jesus, the leading of Jesus, is essential voice for disciples.
And in the process they learned more than they imagined or understood.

Heaven broke in on their earth mindsets. Spirit overcame flesh and earth and the dirt of sins. Hope welled up in every step of obedience.Insight poured into their understanding as they moved in his voice in the world.

Demons obeyed them as well.  And us as we obey and walk with his voice.
People were healed at their touch and prayer.

When the Kingdom is no longer in front,  when following Jesus no longer defines our action, direction, life, we find ourselves drifting from the passion and zeal of following him.

When we simply obey, a voice wells up in us that is unquenchable.

2. We have a voice one day and the next are silent as lambs to the slaughter.

How do we continue in the consistent voice of glory, grace, truth, life and hope the gospel of the Kingdom brings to the darkness?

I've seen some remarkable miracles and things that my natural mind has trouble putting into a category.  When Peter stepped out of the boat and onto the lake, waves and all, I'm sure those watching had no category for it.

People don't walk on water.  But Jesus and Peter did.
This is also the Peter that saw Jesus transfigured on the mountain.  He shone so bright, like the son, they could not look on him.  Also the same Peter who denied him and was crushed by his own voice.  "I don't know the man."

The voice of Peter went through a metamorphosis.  It moved from being his own voice to being the voice of the Master Jesus.  It was a painful process, cutting deep into his understanding of himself and his actions.  But he made it through to Acts 2!  He got his voice back.

We all ebb and flow in our abilities, confidence, voice in Christ.
It's time to fall deeply down into the grace of God.  The love of God. The mercy of God. The forgiveness in his blood.  The cleansing power of the blood of Jesus washes sin away, restoring our purity and holiness.  We are holy because of Jesus and by faith in his cleansing blood.  At times, just like Peter, we come painfully short of the glory we've seen and known.  By grace through faith we are saved.  Believe again.  Repent again.  Welcome Jesus again to this place of voiceless pain.  He will come in and eat with you again.  He will wash you again.  He will abide with you again.
Regain your voice of forgiveness.  Regain your voice in the steadfast love of God.  Rest in it.  Wait in it.  Let the mercies of God flow over you and in you.  Yes. The mind of the flesh says, "I am not worthy of these things."  And yes we are not but for the power of the Cross and the blood of Jesus.
Get back on the horse and ride!

What brings value and validation to our voice in Jesus?

Much of what we evaluate ministry and Saints on is essentially American cultural norms not Kingdom realities.  Look for the Voice of the Kingdom in you and in the Word.

The influence and message of the Gospel in our voice and our lives consistently shrinks back further and further from our voice is we are not diligent and forthright about sharing the good news.

Is it success in hearing?
Jesus often said to the disciples,
"If you love me you will keep my commands."

Success, as we typically define it, is not the root of the Kingdom Voice.
Rather, welcoming and receiving Jesus is.  Welcome him and receive his voice.

God's call and God's grace are the foundation of our Voice.

Much to think about.  Much more to pray about.  So much more to walk in.
Walk in the Spirit today.
Sow to the Spirit today.
Your VOICE will rise in him.

Go ahead.  Run with HIM.
