So How Do We Root Ourselves in Superabundance?

Knowing is not enough.

The Devil knows who God is and still stands opposed to him though he knows his time is short.   Crazy eh?   James 2:19

Mountains are ascended by faith in Christ

Disciples are called to:

Take Hold of the Truth.   
Simply hearing the Word does us no good.

We have to take hold of it and put it into practice.   


James 1:6 
But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.

Therefore, putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls. 22But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.  James 1:22

 

 So how do we root ourselves in Superabundance?  


1) Get rooted and established in LOVE.  

God is love.  You and I need to experience that love.  Know it by experience and encounter
not by books and learning or theory. 
The love of Jesus is experience-able!  
Your love and devotion to Jesus is directly connected to your knowledge of his love!   
Col 2:6  
"So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, 7rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness."
 How have you received him? 
That is the depths of your knowledge of him and his love.  
Are you hungry for more of him? 


23Jesus replied, Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. 24Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.  John 14:23
 
The ultimate motivation of a Disciple is love. I John 3:16/ John 3:16 /I Cor 14:1
Because that is the Father's ultimate motivation.  
Demonstrated in Jesus and empowered in us through the Spirit.
Paul's prayer for us is that we would experience the love of Jesus and be rooted and established in it.  

That our knowledge of God would be established in Christ Jesus and in the knowledge, tangible experience and encounter, of his overcoming, victorious love.   Ephesians 3:17-19   Take hold of a life of LOVE.  Find it in the habitation of his presence in the face of Jesus.  Heb 1:1   



2) Learn the intentional, active way of REST and WAITING. 

Do a quick survey of these things. 


Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly - Col 3:16  / Eph 2:22
Habitation - Dwell / Richly.  
We all know what these simple words mean.  So how much intention fills your day to bring the Word of Christ into the dwelling place of your life?  
People wear Fitbots to see what is happening in their physical lives. 
What is your Word Dwelling richly Fitbot?   
Get intentional with the Word of Christ and how it dwells in you today. 
This is the way into Resting and Waiting. 

Be filled with the Holy Spirit - Ephesians 5:18
Go fitbot again.  Slow down and have a look.  How much overflowing and filling of the Spirit are you carrying today?   
We are called to a life of continuous filling.  
Streams and rivers flow.  They don't stop in a lake.  
Be filled and give it away.  
This is the pathway to resting and waiting.  
Rest and wait on the Holy Spirit.  
What is he saying today?
What is He directing you into today in the Word?
How is he calling you to love in this season of your life? 

You are a temple.  Make sure there is an offering on the alter.   Rom 12:1-2
INTENTION - the second thing to do is be intentional with the leading and your walking with the Spirit.  


3)  Steward the grace, life, Word, and Voice. 

God speaks.  Yea, he's not all cramped up inside a little book. 

He is alive and living.  Disciple, tap into that!  
Isaiah 9:6-7  Look he is bringing a kingdom and government with no end. 
Understand he handed out grace from the foundations of the world in his work on the Cross, Resurrection and Ascension that is now imparted to you.  
Jesus died and rose from the grave just to let us know he is alive.  He ascended to the heavenly temple and is guiding and directing his Kingdom people Co-laboring with us in bringing his rule and reign; until he returns to rule in the earth.  Eph 1:9-10

Following Jesus is a NOW proposition.  Yes. Right Now.  
Put Following first into your life day to day.  Matthew 6:33
So, if he speaks... (John 10) he directs and leads.  
What is he leading you in?
What is he calling you uniquely to express about his glory, love and grace?

So, if he speaks he imparts grace to each of us to steward and bring in fullness to the world. Ephesians 4:7 
And he has given the Fivefold to be a people full of grace as a gift.  Ephesians 4:11-13
Here are the four disciple descriptors I love to walk in for superabundant ongoing, rivers of living water life.
Follow
Walk 
Go
Disciple
Look these up in the New Testament.  
Carry them into your prayer and devotional life.  They will keep you focused as you walk boldly into the world each day with the power of the Spirit and the Grace imparted to you. Grace given to express his Kingdom.  


Now having been questioned by the Pharisees as to when the kingdom of God was coming, He answered them and said, "The kingdom of God is not coming with signs to be observed; 21nor will they say, 'Look, here it is!' or, 'There it is!' For behold, the kingdom of God is in your midst."

 

Talk about adventure.
Talk about Mystery
Talk about His power
Talk about eternal life.  

 Psalms 1:2

  But his delight
is in the law of the Lord, 
and on his law 
he meditates
DAY
and
NIGHT

5 Key Steps to Walking in Superabundance - The Great Invitation is Abiding in His Presence.

Superabundance

Ephesians 3:21 -  "Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine...."

The Kingdom mindset is completely "other".  A new way of seeing the world and ourselves.   
A mindset of the new creation in Christ, it is rooted and established in love and grows up from the soil of 
Hearing and 
Receiving the Word


The great invitation is abiding in the Presence of God in the relationship Jesus shared with the Father through the power of the Holy Spirit.  




 Jesus promised us an abundant flow from within....

He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, 'From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.'" John 7:38


The problem is so often we find ourselves moving out of the stream of his presence and into a mindset that is passive toward the Kingdom and the Spirit and filled up with the world. 


Here are 5 Key Steps to walking in Superabundance. 

 1) Move out of a mindset of Punishment and into a mindset of LOVE and Superabundance. 

 There is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. Rom 8:1-2  We have moved out from wrath and into the family of God.  As a child of God you and I are being trained up by the Spirit into the Kingdom and his Righteousness. Matt 6:33   Problem: our flesh has a good memory and would like to paint life from the perspective of death and sin.  Jesus nailed that to the cross and opened up the new and living way for us. Hebrews 10:20  Paul prays that we would experience the love of Jesus and be enlightened in the eyes of our hearts with that knowledge of his love.  Ephesians 3:14-21  We are secure because Jesus has us.  No one can snatch us out of his hand.  John 10:28-29   Take all the thoughts of punishment captive and sow to the Spirit with Scriptures of assurance and peace and superabundance!

2) Move out of passivity and into intention and initiative with Jesus.  

 For streams of living water to flow continuously through our lives we have to move out of passively riding the streams of our culture.  Jesus is never passive.  He is always moving forward the rule and reign of his grace and glory.  In our quest for rest we confuse passivity with peace and drifting with harmony. Seeking to bring a moment of calm around us when the real rest is within.  Rest in Christ is deeply abiding in the victory and inheritance He won.  All at once we abide in the Cross, Resurrection and Ascension of the King of Kings.  Perfect Rest is best friends with Trust in God.  Trust, hope and love wrapped in faith assure our hearts of a firm foundation.   Following Jesus is intentional initiative.  He paints a way for us to walk in that will draw out connection, transforming grace and deeper love with every step.  Get on that highway.

3) Move out of an entitlement mindset and into Service.

The Kingdom of God is an eternal spiritual Kingdom.  We are members of it through faith in Christ Jesus.  Jesus was clear, the path to finding true life is through losing our life in HIM.  For anyone who has tasted and seen that God is good, the reality of this statement goes deep.  By association with Jesus we leave behind entitlements in this world.  We take on assignments from the King's heart.  We move into a life as a sacrifice, an offering, as a devoted servant of the Lord Jesus.  "Where you go I'll go". Ruth 1:16    We take on the life of our Master and put LOVE on first in everything.  Like Ruth we go where he goes.  

Many believers have been robbed of the vitality and wonder of their faith walk by simply divorcing the day to day following of Jesus from the reality of what their lives are about.   
We lay down our lives for our friends instead of demand them to serve us and meet our needs.  Amazingly we find ourselves in the deepest acts of service and love.  The heritage of God's people is to be a solution in times of trouble not to be the trouble.  And joy finds a rich place in the resting and abiding we walk in.  All those in Christ are to "walk as he walked" I John 2:5-6


4) Move out of your own strength and into His Strength

 Can the flesh carry the glory, the grace or the assignment given to you through Christ?  Anyone who leans on the arm of the flesh painfully knows its limits.  Everything starts cracking and twisting under the weight of God's glory in us and upon us.  Even the favor of God is too much for the flesh to bear.  Paul received an awesome encouragement from the Lord Jesus regarding the workings of grace and our weaknesses.  


Concerning this I implored the Lord three times that it might leave me. 9And He has said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness." Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. 10Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ's sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong.  2 Corinthians 12:9

Moving our lives into His strength is key to superabundant living in grace, favor and the power of the Spirit.

5) Move out of Performance and deep into Presence and Promise.  

 Performance kills the atmosphere of rest and worship.  Looking for the approval of man over that of God is a clear path to failure.  It is a burden to heavy to bear for those found in Christ. 

 It is tragic when ministers, worship leaders, anyone serving on the stages of the Kingdom slides into performing over releasing the grace of God they steward.  

Even more so when whole ministries lack the presence of God in abundance.  We've grown accustomed to performance and hardly know the presence of the Spirit.  We cannot perform for God.  Absurd.  He lacks nothing.  He is not looking for performance but rather obedience.  Well done good and FAITHFUL servant.  Servants receive assignments and faithfully carry them out.  Performers may end up hearing, "Truly I say to you, I do not know you." Matthew 25:12 


The great invitation is abiding in the Presence of God in the relationship Jesus shared with the Father through the power of the Holy Spirit. 

Peter said we have all we need in the Promises of God through Christ Jesus.  Our lives are living temples of presence and promise.  Holy places of abiding and communion with the Father, our hearts, mind, soul and strength is worship.  It only stands to reason that if we align ourselves in obedience with Jesus teaching we will reap all the benefits of the Cross, Resurrection and Ascension in a life here and NOW.  That is the VOICE CALLING into the WILDERNESS!   


The promise in Jesus of never ending streams of living water is echoed in Isaiah's prophecy.

Isaiah 49:8-11 


This is what the Lord says:

“In the time of my favor I will answer you,
and in the day of salvation I will help you;
I will keep you and will make you
to be a covenant for the people,
to restore the land
and to reassign its desolate inheritances,

9to say to the captives, ‘Come out,’
and to those in darkness, ‘Be free!’
“They will feed beside the roads
and find pasture on every barren hill.

10They will neither hunger nor thirst,
nor will the desert heat or the sun beat down on them.
He who has compassion on them will guide them
and lead them beside springs of water.

11I will turn all my mountains into roads,
and my highways will be raised up.

12See, they will come from afar—
some from the north, some from the west,
some from the region of Aswan.b


13Shout for joy, you heavens;
rejoice, you earth;
burst into song, you mountains!
For the Lord comforts his people
and will have compassion on his afflicted ones.

His Presence and Promise call us into his rest and settle our hearts down on a firm foundation.  This is by Christ, through faith, who pours abundant grace on us.

How Deep is God? How Far Can We Really Go Knowing God?

How far can we really go knowing God? 

How deeply can a person travel into the knowledge of God?


There is no end to discovering the Trinity God. 


There are creatures in heaven covered with eyes.
They have surrounded the Throne for timeless time. 
They see something new in God with the smallest movement.  Never ending praise breaks out from inside and fills their mouths.  
Over and Over again they glimpse a new wonder in the nature and character of the Trinity God and fall in worship.  (Rev 4:6-11)

No wonder the wonder is required in Christian worship. 

It's to bad that vast numbers of churches seek to "reduce" the mysteries of the Godhead into palatable bit sized meals mixed with heavy doses of 10 steps and words like happiness.  

Of course people drink it up.  Not unlike how we keep returning to McDonald's.  But then we know what happens to people who eat there for 30 days straight.  



Paul cries out,
"Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways! 34For WHO HAS KNOWN THE MIND OF THE LORD, OR WHO BECAME HIS COUNSELOR?…  Romans 11:33-34

I've heard believers say, "Where is the wonder in worship".  
Where is the wonder in our vision of the Lord Jesus, our understanding of his boundless and overcoming Kingdom?  The wonder of the mystery of losing our lives to find them?   

All this dumbing down of the power, beauty love and mystery of our God for the sake of effortless awe and wonder is clearly showing it's true colors. 

Paul again says that it is our understanding through revelation of Jesus that opens up the vast expanses of his nature, character and love.   


"I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God."  Ephesians 3:17-20

Words like fullness of God and a love that surpasses knowledge don't make for assembly line people making.  These are words of deep lovers.  Words that forge family devoted to Christ.  People overwhelmed with a love that flies deep into their souls and spins a tapestry of good good works.  LOVE, PEACE, JOY, KINDNESS, GENTLENESS...on and on.  


American Christianity has the tendency to fixate on what fills the MIND.  Rather than a holistic worship.  Worship more naturally finds rest as it is more like the God who made the world in all it's vast wonder and beauty.   Worship that includes emotion, the body, the visual, the deep and abiding presence of God.   It is vast boundless expanse filled with power, beauty and love. 

  




How far can we really go knowing God?



As far and as deep as you desire.  He is unlimited.  What an invitation.  An invitation to an amazing life. A life alive to the presence and knowledge of God.  
A life free of the wrath to come. 
A life of abundance in relationship with Jesus.  


Jesus rebuked a very disciplined and doctrinally pure church for something they were missing.  Something more important to him than a check list of proper complete and correct thoughts.  


He rebuked their lack of love.  A love that made all other things look second.  
A First LOVE.  (Revelation 2:1-7)


We are like God.  Made in his image.  The world's emotions only reflect his vast creative energies and love.  A first love is what Jesus won for us.  A love that led him to the cross in the will of the Father for US.  For the joy set before him he endured the cross.    We are that joy!


Explore your relationship with the Trinity God.  
Step into the wonder of the Mind of Christ and Christ in you the hope of glory.   
Explore First LOVE.   
Everything else finds its peaceful fit when Christ is First LOVE.
