Satan Wants to Sift You? What? How does that work?

Jesus said something like this to Peter.
I have prayed for you.   You are going to go through it...Be Sifted...but when you return take care of your brothers.

Sobering.
But Peter did not think he would deny Jesus.
But he did.
This rocked him to the core.
This stripped him of every pretense and high thought he ever had.
He denied Jesus three times.
Publicly. Three times.  Just as Jesus said he would.

Insight: The stripping of trials, the sifting, allows us to let loose delusions and pretensions that hinder the fulness of the Gospel in us.
I've heard it said and have said it myself, "I've lost everything."
When in fact we have gained eternal life and refined grace and glory in Jesus.

Remember what Peter said to Jesus, "Lord I will die with you."
Peter meant it.  That is how he saw himself.
But there were other things still in the way of the devotion Jesus required.

The simple facts of walking after Jesus are clear.
Jesus is the standard of righteousness.
We are coming into greater and greater understanding and encounter with his love.
Peter had run into this previously...."Get behind me Satan. You do not have the things of God in mind."
He made the first and greastest confession in human history, "You are the Christ. The Son of the Living God."
And then saw how high and wide and deep is the love of God in the wise plans of the Father through Jesus.

Like Peter we stumble and sometimes fall so hard that things get mixed up inside us.

The First thing to get mixed up is our hearts.
Religion.  Self righteousness.
The thoughts we carry about our ability to fulfill righteousness...
Start the knock on the door in earnest. They seek to invade our hearts.
We are commanded to "guard our hearts."
This must be a key reason for such a command.

We see again -  we are lost without Jesus and his work covering us.
We see again  - the reality of his redeeming love.
We see again  - that even if our hearts condemn us, the power of the Gospel is right there.....

"We will know by this that we are of the truth, and will assure our heart before Him 20in whatever our heart condemns us; for God is greater than our heart and knows all things. 21Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God..." I John 3:20

"Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died--more than that, who was raised to life--is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us."  Rom 8:34

Jesus is always right here....

  • Welcoming us into the Fathers heart.
  • Opening up our lives with freedom through his blood.
  • Dropping buckets of grace filled forgiveness over us in waves.
  • Cleansing us and washing us anew.
  • Reminding us that truly it is by grace we are saved.
  • Again and Again and again we are saved by grace.

When our hearts condemn us.

1. Find the place of abiding rest.
Don't rest until you do.  Press in. Exercise grace in your life.
Run after mercy and forgiveness.  Welcome the Spirit to call out what is in your heart.  Slow down.  Rest in the presence.  Abide again.
Abiding is in the presence purchased for us in Jesus.  He completed a perfect abiding work.  We never have to leave the presence!

In repentance and rest is our salvation.
For thus the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel, has said, "In repentance and rest you will be saved, In quietness and trust is your strength." But you were not willing, 16And you said, "No, for we will flee on horses," Therefore you shall flee! "And we will ride on swift horses," Therefore those who pursue you shall be swift.… Isaiah 3015f

Look to what you are declaring and saying in response to the challenges and difficulties you are facing.

2. Find the place of resting peace in the Lord's arms.

He will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you." Isaiah 26:3

"Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.  John 14:27

As the Lord commands, fear in the heart is deadly for zeal, passion and the knowledge of the Lord.  Drive it out.  Don't let it take up a seat in your heart.  If it has the Spirit is able to lead you through getting free.  The opposite of fear is trust.
Let trust return to your heart.  Focus in on these things......

Jesus is trustworthy   -  "I am the Way."
Jesus is trust-able  - "I am the Truth"
Jesus is leading me (John 14:6)

3. Remember - Heart surgery is a process.  Remember what he has done.
Rest and resting is one of the great gifts of Kingdom citizenship.  Learning to remain there requires regular heart check ups.  Sometimes the Spirit allows the enemy to sift us and we feel the deep stripping.  It is a deep work of love and grace and requires time and focus.   We want the heat to shut off.  We want the pressure to end.  But it is working its work for the glory of God.

James promises us.....

"...knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. 4And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing." James 1:3-4

Jesus is seeking to bring us into perfection.  The kind that is in heaven.  The kind he died for.  Let him do his perfect work through the power of the Holy Spirit.

He's got you.
No one can snatch you out of his hand.
Surrender
Come into the abiding place of his presence and find rest for your soul.

Testify to yourself.  Remind yourself of all the amazing things Jesus has done.  Tell of his wonders.  Speak of his goodness.  Tell yourself about the miracles, stories of his love.  Remind your soul who Jesus is.

4. WORSHIP - Declare the praises of him who loves us.
Once your heart is worshiping again you can be assured you are moving back into the country where you belong.  The unbounded Kingdom of the rule and reign of Jesus.
1 Timothy 4:9-10
It is a trustworthy statement deserving full acceptance. For it is for this we labor and strive, because we have fixed our hope on the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of believers.
- See more at: http://bible.knowing-jesus.com/topics/Trustworthiness#sthash.xkw9BSCZ.dpuf
Enjoy it.  Say those things that resonate in the Word and speak volumes of truth about the Father, Jesus and the Spirit.  Say them out loud.  Find a place in open country and speak them out loud.  Tell them to the hills.  Shout them to the mountains.   He is Alive!  He lives in you.

Bali Indonesia 2015 - Set a Fire Down in My Soul

A friend of our host here in Bali dropped off a book this morning.
It was an account of the revival in Bali
and Indonesia in the late 60's and 70's.

I've read another book about these times.

Wonderful times.
But a long time ago.

The Lord has a number of Saints here stirred in soul and heart for Bali.
They need our prayers, encouragement and mission support.

Caterpillar with leaf camo outside the door

This is a wild country.  Wild in the Spirit.  Wild in nature.
This is one of the most lusciously beautiful places I have ever been in the world.
No wonder people flock here by the millions.

Ps 24 Enter King of Glory
But the little flock here in Bali appears under siege.
Upon arrival we were told about the limited number of believers on the Island.
1% or less.   A few days later "60,000 are all the believers here out of 4 million or so that populate the island."  This from a pulpit hosting about 20 people.  A morning pulpit with about a 100.    Sometimes wild HOPE, faith and LOVE are in order.  A great light dawned on the world.  Jesus lights up everywhere he goes.  He is with us, his own.  We carry his presence.  The Lord saves by many or by few.  He altered the reality of the world with 12 apostles and 108 disciples in an upper room.  They waited for power.  They pressed into the only hope they had.  The Lord Jesus Christ and his promises.

God's, idols, shrines and offerings are everywhere.

In the Spirit it is easy to see the all the gates set up to hinder, stop, arrest and break the voice of the Gospel.  Clearly fear is set into the hearts of the Saints.  Is it much different in America where we have freedom of speech and no conviction?  Gates telling us we cannot preach freely?

The Lord Jesus is never hindered in his desires and breakout.
There is always and open door.
In a land of 10,000 gates there will always be open doors for the Saints through the Spirit.
We found many.

The Holy Spirit and the King of Kings is not under siege.

Jesus said, "I will build my church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it."  Mtt 16:18

Prevailing against the gates requires preaching the message of salvation in Jesus Christ.  It is so evident in a besieged culture.  Jesus is the one true power and the amazing grace.

We went to one of the only churches with a building in Ubud Sunday night.  We met and prayed with wonderful believers from around the world.  There were a few Balinese.  This was a evening service.

A city of 30,000 and the one Up here in the lush beauty of Tampaksaring, about 40 minuets from Ubud, is the home of the oldest temple on the Island.   It is also the one location in Bali where the Presidential palace fills up the hills above the ancient temple.

Presidential Palace above the Temple
Tampaksiring is also a place with no visible presence of the church.
That is no building.  No visible gathering place for the Saints.
Most assuredly Jesus has his people here.  But they appear hidden.   None of the believers knew of another believer in the area.  A ripe field for harvest; an amazing opportunity for the bright light of the Lord Jesus to break forth with salvation.

Jesus has surely planted his servants in Bali.  And he has planted a witness of his love, power, voice and grace in the hills of the jungle in the cities and villages.

Now he is starting a new fire in the hills of Tampaksiring.  He has set aside a piece of land, a home, a house for his dwelling place.  A place of beauty and grace where the prayers of the Saints echo out over the ravines and jungle green.   Established in a miracle.   Sustained by him alone, this beautiful outpost for passionate and whole heated pursuit of Jesus Christ was sending out a new sound of praise, worship, love and devotion to the Savior Jesus.   The witness of his Name in Bali is rooted and established.  The cry of the heart reaching our hearts is that the Lord Jesus loves Bali and Indonesia as a nation.

April 27, 2015
Early in the morning the hills and valleys are being filled with the sounds of worship.  We noticed that even the slightest sound of temple instruments went out over the jungle.  We set about bringing the proclamation of the Lord Jesus in the power of the Spirit.  Sounds of declaration and truth about the nature of God's heart for Bali, rang out over the jungle morning after morning.  Jesus the great King, the Name above all Names filling up the air with insights and prophecy's.   The cry of "He comes like wind, rain, fire and oil." is filling up hearts with breakthrough and with love.

What is the value of prayer?  What is the true convictions of it's power and place in the workings of the Kingdom of God?

A new fire is being set in the hills of Tampaksiring.  A fire of love and devotion in Jesus Christ is breaking out in the mountains.   Freedom is spilling out over the mountains with rivers and streams and the waters of life.   A house of prayer is being established where a faithful Saint has endured years of patient contenting.   The Spirit has brought together people for his glory and to re-light hearts of love in Jesus that knows no boundaries.

He is our peace who has broken down every wall.

There is no other Name under Heaven by which men are saved.

Come Lord Jesus. Fill the earth with the truth of your Name and the powerful work of your Spirit.

Beauty, Glory, Hope and Sorrow - Bali is Wild Beauty - Mission 2015

Bali is wild beauty.
It draws millions of visitors.

Bali has a measure of glory
Glory is different from beauty.  Beauty is inherent in creation and speaks of the Father's character and nature.  Glory is not automatic.
Glory is the manifest presence.  Resident in all living things, the Glory of God emerges in faith, hope and love.  Glory emerges in the welcome, the embrace of the rule and reign of Jesus.
It shines in unity, oneness, love and the Kingdom manifest in us.

Bali is searching for her glory.  A few bright lights.  Many dimly lit.
The called out ones are hard pressed and there are a 1000 gates to prevail against.

The glory is often stolen.
ogoh ogoh -glorying the theif
After a large building project near a local village, those leasing the land thought it would be great to welcome the village up for a celebration and party.  Possibly a 1000 people, the heart hope was to build a relationship, bless and welcome the village into the property.  The cost was $5000.00.  Everyone was approached and all agreed this would be fantastic.  Those leasing the property were excited to offer something in friendship to the Balinese village.  The land owner (only Balinese can
own land - others lease for 20-25 years) was given the money to make preparations for the party.  HE STOLE IT ALL.  The party never happened.   The Villagers blamed the leasee.  They began to steal and despise the tenants of the new property.  A promise not fulfilled.  A hope of all trashed by short sighted greed.  And there is no justice for the money stolen.  The ones who lost it were foreigners.
Glory lost to greed, theft, racism, and fatherless fathers.

Bali is rich in hope.
The complexities of life here have not overwhelmed hope.
It is expressed everywhere.  People are making a way in this radically changing economic and social environment.  Hope is alive for something better.
Yet it appears that someone is always loosing with the "advances".

It appears to be the Balinese.  Om swastiastu - good morning, nice to meet you in Ubud town...30 mins from Tampaksiring get you a blank stare.  The language of Bali is being forced into the jungle.
Many run to Bali for the opportunities, the freedom, the ability to live and have hope. They do find a measure of it.  But it looks like table scraps to me.  Slim pickings.

When hope in Christ is endlessly beat down with religion and the fires of love are quenched along with the Holy Spirit the heart grows very sick.  Hope starves in the thin air of a lack of his presence.

Jesus is filled with hope.  He always carries hope, faith and love.
His presence is alive with creative wonder and belief.
He always sees a way.
When spiritual environments are closed down to the fire in his eyes hopes flame grows dim.
The spirit of python squeezes tighter and tighter with every exhale.
Come Holy Spirit and light new fire. Expand the atmosphere with your love and beauty.

Good News.  IN Jesus hope remains.  In Christ Jesus hope is eternal fire.  In Jesus we overcome the world.  In Jesus love, grace, mercy, hope and faith stream endlessly to the open heart.

Bali is a refuge.
Many believers from other islands where persecution is violence come to Bali to a make a life

The lush jungle hides vipers.
Glory is the natural beauty of a given thing in creation shining forth within it designed fullness in Christ.

http://ow.ly/MsGoE   -  The Islands Praise Him!  Isaiah 42
God is stirring hearts for Bali and Indonesia.  Is he stirring yours?
more to come in the days ahead.

The Remarkable 10's of Ephesians. Eternity broke wide open in the Death, Resurrection and Ascension of Jesus.

Ephesians is a powerful letter of Scripture for our times.

Paul writing his letters
Tucked away in the book are some amazing insights into Jesus and our inheritance. An amazing picture is painted of our identities in HIM.  The letter provides a view of the huge expanse of grace and glory resident in the Kingdom of God.   It points us to the keys of the work of Jesus and the manifold wisdom of God being orchestrated in our times.

There are also some powerful truths in all the 10's of each chapter.
I thought I would break these and look at each one.  They help paint a beautiful picture of the Kingdom of God and some of the story line of eternity unfolding around us.

Hope it blesses and encourages you deeply.

Eph 1:10
"to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ."
Unity is not something believers make.  Eph 4:3
Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.
Jesus bought, brought, and provides paths for unity in the heavens and on earth.  In him everything visible and invisible will be unified before the Father.  He restored relationship to the Father and made a way for humanity to welcome and be transformed into His likeness.  Eternity burst wide open in the Death, Resurrection and Ascension of Jesus.  Never to be undone, heaven is invading earth every moment with divine assignment and grace.  Humanity is being swept up into the heart of the Father through the prefect work of our Lord Jesus.
Believers keep the unity.  The fivefold ministers, on assignment and as gifts to the church, by fulfilling and walking in their calling and assignments, propagate unity among believers, churches and nations.  Centering the Bride on Jesus, revelation and understanding of his NAME, on seeking the Kingdom and his righteousness first and engaging in habitation presence (prayer, worship, intercession, presence) as a way of life.
Key:  Everything on earth and in heaven will one day come into perfect unity with Jesus.
Eph 2:10
"For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."
We are the Father's poem written on the Death, Resurrection and Ascension of Jesus our Lord.  Just as Jesus walked in the good works the Father was doing, we walk in his good works.  Led by the Spirit, we move in the same rivers of love and redemption that he set into the world.  In the inheritance of Jesus, the completed work of eternal redemption with he accomplish in singular victory, we find our good works.  Already planned.  Designed with Spirit craftsmanship in such a way that as we walk in them we become his poem.  He writes the glory of Jesus on us, in us, through us as we serve and love as co-laborers with Him.  His yoke is certainly easy, resting on us in the Spirit's grace and calling out in us the transformation of love.  God's love.  A poem.  Simple beauty set in powerful lyrics and calling out over the world's landscape, our poem gives testimony to his life changing power and love.

Eph 3:10
"His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms,"
Paul, through the leading of the Spirit, points us to the Father's intentions in and through Jesus.  Jesus is Head of the Church.  The Church is his body, living and active in the world.  A living expression of the Kingdom reality.  His Bride, being shaped into his image and prepared for a Wedding feast, is his love assignment.  He never looses sight of her. He is always working for her transformation.  It is the Father's intent that through the church, the assembly of those called out of this world of darkness, that he would demonstrate something remarkable.   Manifold Wisdom.  Beyond the capacity of human minds, the mind of God takes these millions of sons and daughters and winds them and weaves them constantly into a confounding demonstration of his glory in the face of the fallen powers.  These are all fallen powers and fading rulers of this world.  A witness consistently is being made to their demise through manifold wisdom; many faceted harmonious and unified expressions of his grace, glory, love and power.   He is doing this today through his church.  Not linear, but manifold wisdom.  All at once and not at all.  Perfect motion and obedience unrecognizable to the powers.  So who do we want to agree with about the Church?  Jesus the Head?  The Father, who intent is manifold wisdom here and now?  Or the small minded flesh minded simple linear perspectives of the earth we all so easily assess?

Eph 4:10
"He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things."
Just when we want to shrink back into a view of the kingdom we can contain, hold in ourselves and think we can build, Paul reminds us that Jesus has filled every element of creation.  His love, work and obedience to the Father's heart and plans have completely altered the universe.  Remember Jesus is the Unifying person of the universe.  Reason.  He obeyed the Father's will as perfect worship and love and that work went to every location of creation.  There is no place outside the vision and story of redemption in Jesus.   He has filled all things in every way.  Hell is not beyond his presence.  He sees it dark passages as if in daylight.  Nothing is hidden from his gaze.  Yet his gaze is upon us in love.  He is seeking the good for humanity.  Seeking our joy.  He is in love with each person on the globe.  He longs for each to come into the saving grace of Jesus.  Jesus ascended from earth into Heaven.  This is vitally important.  And nearly forgotten in modern teaching.  It was core for the apostles.  He ascended before their eyes.  Heaven and earth are forever linked.  Heaven is open.  Jesus sat down at the right hand of the Father.  Sat down.  Means this whole thing is finished in him.  As High Priest he is leading worship and prayer and interceding for our compete redemption.   No one is going to bring him down from this lofty seat.  No one on earth is going to change the reality of the Kingdom he is bringing into the world every day.   It is finished.  He made all things new.  He makes us NEW!
In this authority and headship Jesus gave people to his Bride.  He gave apostles, prophets, teachers, pastors and evangelists.  He gave them so she could attain all the beauty and glory in his heart.  He gave ascension grace and assignments to release that grace to men and women of his choosing to accomplish his inheritance today.

Eph 5:10
"Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord."
Each believer is set with a vital assignment.  To prove with their life what is pleasing to the Lord.  We were not set to prove to each other what is pleasing to God.  We are set to prove to him that we understand his will in love.  We test and prove and work and pray with all zeal and diligence in his will.  We are not going to hear well done good and faithful servant from our brothers and sisters.  We are going to prove the will of God unto Jesus.  It is his worship.  It is his grace pumping through our hearts and veins.  It is his voice that calls us.  It is his mission that fills us.  It is his presence that lights endless fires of prayer and love and worship.  The world is rotting away and fading as we seek to prove ourselves to each other.  There is only one approval worthy of our efforts energy and worship, the approval of Jesus.  Run after that.  Set it first in your life.  Never lack zeal to prove his will in your life.  His smile is worth every pain.  His eyes full of fire and love are worth the days of ambiguity and confusion.  There is no one else to prove the will of God to but God.
The remarkable thing is, when we are walking in the Spirit and following Jesus, the yoke of his will is easy and light.  It is peaceful and full of rest.  It is magnificent in beauty and power.  WE will find the way to prove what is acceptable in the steps of Jesus.  We follow him today through the wisdom and understanding of the Holy Spirit.  We follow Jesus.  "Follow me," he said to Peter as the Dead, Resurrected, Ascended present and living Lord.  John 21

Eph 6:10

"Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might."
Strong in the Lord.  Being rooted and established in love, knowing the depths of the love of Jesus, abiding in his boundless presence, we can be strong in the power of his might.   The Saints have not exhausted the power of his might.   To move into the power of his might we have to abide in his strength.  What was the strength of the Lord Jesus?  To whom did he find his joy, power, strength, love, support and grace?  The Father.  The mystery of the Lord Jesus is open to us as strength.  Strong in the Lord.  Everything in the Lord will be gathered up in the strength of the Father and the perfection of the Lord Jesus.  Perfect worship.  Perfect love.  Perfect abiding grace.  Perfect peace.  Perfect unity.  Perfect wisdom.  Perfect obedience.  Perfect honor.  Perfect habitation.  This belongs to us in our strong Lord Jesus.  His power is beautiful.  It is not Lording or like the world.  It redeems the world's corrupt understandings and control.  It harvests a crop of beauty for every fallen thing.  the power of his might is found in abiding in the strength of the one we love, Jesus.  Finally....this is our continuous discovery and pathway.  Knowing Jesus in the strength of his heart before the Father.  Knowing him in the strength of his surrender.  His body laid down for us.  Knowing him in the strength of his forgiveness.  Knowing Jesus in the strength of his grace.  Knowing Jesus in the strength of his desire to please the Father.  Knowing Jesus in the strength of his worship.  Knowing him in the strength of his righteousness.  This is the power of his might.  This is what we are called into as strength.  This is how we become strong in the Lord.  When we let go of earthly understanding of strength and tap into the reality of Jesus' strength we can move freely in the power of his might.

Remarkable letter.  Manifold Wisdom is being poured out today through the Church.
That's the intent of the Father in the Lord Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Believe.  And Run in his rest and joy!
