Jesus holds a remarkable place in the universe.
He is the One Person that changes everything.
Sometimes a simple shift can alter the course.
The simplest change altering all future realities.
Jesus is the ONE Person who changes everything about everything.
He is the one simple shift that makes "all things new".
Ephesians 1:9-10 English Standard Version (ESV)9 making known[a] to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ 10 as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.
It can be difficult to remember what it's like NOT knowing Jesus. It's easy to loose sight of the amazing grace of God for all kinds of reasons. But remember what it was like to NOT know Jesus.
UN-tethered in the world, adrift on the ocean of the "almost" eternally meaningful
events,
relationships,
life accomplishments,
rewards,
Jesus appears irrelevant, religious, of no meaning.
And in a real sense he is.
Jesus is not a fix for the earth driven cultures of the world we know so well.
Jesus didn't come to bring a resolution to the life we know and live everyday.
He is not a fixer. He is not making the life we live good again.
He is leading us to a completely new way to a new and living life.
Granted over time wisdom will lead us into a better life of order and peace in following Jesus, but it is His rule and reign and the coming of his Kingdom that shapes the life of those offering allegiance to Christ Jesus.
Jesus came to bring a revolution, a new life and a new Kingdom. Isaiah 9:6-7
For unto us a child is born,
to us a son is given;
and the government will be
upon his shoulder,
and his name will be called
Wonderful Counselor,
Mighty God,
Everlasting Father,
Prince of Peace.
He brings a completely new reality of life and love that rides on his perfected work. A love that rides in the grace of the mission of the Father.
When Jesus is placed into categories of religion, personal help, peace when you can't find any, and many other small sideline personal spiritual aids, we loose the reality of the person he is and the radical joy he brings to our hearts.
HOPE has come for the poor and the thirsty.
This world may be enough for those who appear to have everything in it....But for the rest of us it is not. Life is challenging, tumultuous, momentarily peaceful, always in motion, and there are some really terrible people destroying lives nearly everywhere.
Life can be lonely. Isolation screams at our need for connecting deeply. Sometimes the deepest relationships providing fuel for the worst pain, trouble and disruption we experience.
I've had a most amazing life. An awesome wife, who I don't deserve, who has been my friend and joy for over 30 years. Three young men, our boys, who are out in the world doing good things and walking with a life that enhances those around them with love and generosity. I've traveled around the world. Have a great property to call home. A garden. A hunting dog. I have friends. An awesome church family. Yes. Good things abound. I am truly grateful.
But the world just isn't enough for me.
It runs with more pain and blood in a day than anyone could possibly comprehend.
I can't abide that. I want to see us be better, do better. The world sets a table for tragedy and mis-hap on a grand scale every day. I've tasted ruin by forces outside my control. The 2008 crash toasted my life, finances, dignity pretty well.
It requires good government to get good society; something huge swaths of the world know nothing about. Each day is filled with victory and trouble, violence and love. From all reports it's difficult to tap the love over the violence.
Cities like Paris, filled with life, beauty, promise, love and hope are trashed and trampled by people who destroy the peace of the common person. Ripping through their lives, neighborhoods, with guns and bombs.
When we box Jesus up into a religious figure and link him with religion, we loose site of the vast "everything" Jesus is changing and will change.
We might be able to believe the myths of our culture....or some other culture at least for a little while.
The Myth That fame,
wealth,
all the best when it's the newest
leads to deep and personal fulfillment
and rest.
Yet, we see and hear the stories
of these fortunate ones with everything who...
of these fortunate ones with everything who...
Die of drug overdoses
Isolated and alone.
Die of suicide
Die of mishandled medications
Fade off into the unknown.
This is tragic.
We should be asking why the stories end this way?
So, drowning in the medicated life with everything
all of us could ever want, is LIFE?.
People propagate the myth. But the story does not appear to be true. The culture rehashes the story again and again with all it's tragic endings. And in turn the world gets angrier and angrier. People gasp and wonder and stand staring at the violence and racial hate, the terrorism and brutality. No wonder Trump can fire them up instantly.
For unto us a child is born,
to us a son is given;
and the government will be
upon his shoulder,
and his name will be called
Wonderful Counselor,
Mighty God,
Everlasting Father,
Prince of Peace.
So, if a few people want to live a quiet life outside the flow of the noise; want to follow a person who inspires them with his character, peace, teaching and tangible Love, why are such people considered a threat?
Jesus is the one person that ties everything in life together and connects all it's deepest mysteries. And billions of people have no idea he does that.
Yes. Sometimes he's hard to see through all the smoke of the church and religious practices. There are plenty of things to lead one away from understanding who Jesus is. How connecting with him roots us into a rest of the heart and a love that words don't measure up to.
It's Christmas again! The story continues to be told. The grace continues to unfold in countless lives day after day.
This child changes everything.
Never lose HEART
Always pray in faith and TRUST
In Patience enduring for the sake of the Elect all things.
This is the Message I’ve been set apart to proclaim as preacher, emissary, and teacher. It’s also the cause of all this trouble I’m in. But I have no regrets. I couldn’t be more sure of my ground—the One I’ve trusted in can take care of what he’s trusted me to do right to the end.
which is why I suffer as I do. But I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is able to guard until that day what has been entrusted to me.
An eternal word of life for all the peoples
In Christ Forever
