Getting Breakthrough by Faith and Promise - Two Keys

By faith Promise and Trust make a way in darkness

I'm going through a wonderful and challenging season in my life.

Tough in its challenge and wonderful in the promises of God.  I'm sure you've been through a few of those?

Consider it pure joy when you face trials of many kinds.  James 1:2

Not much is passive or cruising in my life.  Much time is spent contending for the promises both of Scripture and prophecy.

Some of David's words ring true to this season,

"Then my head will be exalted
    above the enemies who surround me;
at his sacred tent I will sacrifice with shouts of joy;
I will sing and make music to the Lord."  Ps 27

This is one of those seasons when the "then" is still ready to break out and break through.  I am contending for it daily.

It's been times a plenty and not so plenty.  Remarkably we have always had enough; The Father has found a way through for us.  Sometimes I don't really understand how it all happens. How all the pieces work together and provision arrives, healing arrives, restoration arrives and breakthrough comes to us.
This has been a season of remarkable miracles. It's also been days of deep struggle and fasting and believing.

The dead and lifeless do not reproduce.

The temptation to lean onto the arm of the flesh, our own strength, understanding and ability, is always warring with the simple, faith filled, walk in the Spirit.   Ps 144

The war is over citizenship.  We are citizens of Heaven's Kingdom. We are aliens and strangers.  We think different.  We speak different.  We live different.  We find our strength and hope in the Rock eternal, the steadfast loving Father of heavenly lights.

I Peter 2:11

So what are 2 things to focus on when your are tempted to lean into and on the arm of the flesh rather than walk in the Spirit?

Promise and Provision
Double promise double portion is even better!
  1. Promise
Our good Father gives us promises to cling to, dwell in and prosper by.  He paints a picture for us of the life we are called into and the way before us.  Our feet enter the lands of promise as we walk by faith in the power of the Spirit.  Promise is the stepping stone, the pavement of the kingdom highway.  Promise overcomes religion, sacrifice over obedience and places us front and center abiding in the Lord Jesus.  Promise guides us to his heart in the storms of life.  Promise tells us we remain in him by the power of his love.  Promise and trust are deep friends who dwell together in every step of life.  Our Father blesses us daily in his promises.

Sometimes all we have are the promises of God.  Grasping a hold of them in deep dark storms displays our trust for the Father's steadfast love.

The love of God, experienced by us, filling us up, overcoming our fears, laying waste to the culture of death around us, is rooted in a great promise.

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36As it is written:
“For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”j
37No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,k neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:34-39

2. ProvisionA very important insight flows from a question of Jesus.
"How many loaves do you have? Go and see."  Mark 6:38
What has he already given you?

All of us have a store house of grace, blessings, favor and love from the Father to some measure.  Everyone of us has something to be thankful for, something of special grace from God, the very knowledge of the Holy One being the first and unshakable reality of our lives.

Thanksgiving sits down at the table of promise first.  Always welcome.  Always understanding that the steadfast love of God is in motion with us.  We are found in love (John 3:16) grown in Love (Ephesians 3:17-18) gain our true understanding and vision in love (27:6).

Store of seeds. (2 Cor 9:10)

Talents (Matthew 25:14f)
Spiritual Gifts  (Eph 4:7)
Authority to heal and drive out demons (Matthew 10:8)
Matthew 10:8, "Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give."

If you do not use, activate, take to the limit everything given to you by the grace of God there is little hope of flowing streams.  There are always streams flowing, but they may be intermittent and small.  Putting to work by faith all the grace and blessings of God in your life maximizes the outflow.  Streams fill up rapidly in an environment of faith, service and love.

When we think that all the blessings are for our benefit we miss the heart of the Father completely.

If we have no desire to pour out blessing on the world, the blessings of steadfast love we have known ourselves, we need to check and see if we are in the faith.  God is love.  Love is clear and simple.  People who are loved know it.  We have a kingdom in which every action is bathed in rich and deep lovea steadfast love that the Saints have been learning about since the beginning. (Genesis 22:14)

Abraham was blessed to be a blessing. (Genesis 22:18) If we miss this we miss the heart of the LORD Jesus for the world.
When we call what we have...
Limited
Not enough
Falling short
Coming up incomplete

We fall off the pinnacle of grace, mercy and loveWhen we begin to work in our own strength, ideas, good as they may be, and human power, we are not building his Kingdom.

1. Go and look for what you have.
2. Go and see how God has blessed you.  Thankfulness is at the heart of worship.  It is where the joy filled life in God begins and ends.
3. Apply Faith to what you have...  He blessed it.  Be a blessing with all you have.
4. Build Hope into everything you do.  Start passing out what you have and filling baskets for distribution. Try 5000 and see a miracle!
5. Step out on the waters of faith, hope and LOVE in Jesus you have and endless supply.
6.  Put on the eyes of Christ and bring his kingdom -  contact in love, pray for the sick, cast out the demonic strongholds.

Above all remain deeply rooted and abiding in the steadfast love of the Lord Jesus.
There is no place like leaning on his chest.  John was welcomed in his deep desire to be near to Jesus.  You and I are as well.

Much love in Jesus.
Be strong and courageous.
He is able to bring you fully into his fullness of Joy.
Walk in the Spirit and in the power of his might!
