Unchoke the Word in You

Giving place to anything but "Christ in you, the Hope of Glory" (Col 1:27) can carry us away from seeing the Kingdom of God and walking in fullness of Jesus Christ.

We can get stuck in so many ways.
But I have good news.

If you are stuck.  Know this.  There is always a way out in Jesus.
Simple. Direct. Now.
Really.
Right now.

Jesus was clear about things that stumble and stifle us from fruitfulness in the Kingdom.

The light and truth of the Gospel of Jesus is power and grace to live in eternal life now.  Not in some far off distant future.  The Kingdom of God is present, living and active here today.  We carry that Kingdom everywhere as we walk in the Spirit.

So yes, Jesus warned us of what deletes our passion and focus; about what cools the fires of first love

1) The worries of the world
2) The deceitfulness of wealth
3) Desires for other things CHOKE THE WORD – making it unfruitful

  UN-CHOKE THE WORD - Mark 4:13-20

   the harvest fields are ready!

 Working backwards from being stuck

"Desires for other things" - what are your desires focused on?  The Kingdom of God and his Righteousness first?  Are your affections fixed on other things than Jesus?

Questions What are your desires set on?
What is your heart set on achieving?  Is Jesus front and center of that desire or goal?   Does your divine calling fit into the desires you are focused on?

Know that lust, fantasy and sexual desires decimate First Love and Holiness in the Spirit.

Directly addressed by Jesus -
Affections - First Love is indispensable to all the favor and grace the Kingdom of our Lord imparts.  Ordering our focus in the face of Jesus places our hearts, mind, soul, strength on the Kingdom first and his righteousness (transformation growth from glory to glory)

The first things of the Kingdom - walking in these things first continues us in the ways of the Spirit.  They are what we walk in to walk after the Spirit.

 First Love - Revelation 2:1-7
Kingdom and Righteousness -  Matthew 6:33
Prayer- I Timothy 2:1-7
Dwelling Richly in the Word of Jesus  - Colossians 3:16-17

     Walking in Wisdom - Ps 1 / James 3:14-18

worship the one true God - nothing false all laid bare
Prayer: Father I repent that my love for Jesus is not like your first love for him. Restore me to your love and the way you love Jesus.  Place the first love you have for your Son in my heart, mind, soul and strength that I might honor your Son in the fullness of his glory.

2. Deceitfulness of Wealth - means?    Wealth can deceive us into thinking all is well and forever will be. It woos us into complacency and a false security.  It seeks our allegiance and seemingly provides for our happiness, but this "deceit" is quickly broken in shortfalls, unemployment and lack.  Clearly wealth is fleeting and can be carried away in a moment.  So we set our hearts on Christ first and revel in the grace and favor of his glorious provisions on all occasions.

Paul to wealthy - give it now - share it now - We are called to generosity - to looking like the Father - HE is so generous and so good!  The expediency of generosity is clearly linked to the audacious supplication of faith-filled sons and daughters.  Our abilities to bless in abundance as the Father blesses us and graces us on all occasions for fruitfulness is never proportional.   It finds it's rooting in the grandest giver of them all - the Father in Heaven.  He pours out love on the undeserving at all occasions and in all seasons.

Greed - is an idol of the self in this age.
        Synonyms
                        The deceit of wealth looks....

                        1. insincere, disingenuous, false, hollow, designing, tricky, wily.
                        2. illusory, fallacious.

The abundant favor of the Lord is expressed freely in grace filled multiplied provision and blessing to those who walk in the Spirit.

3. Worries of the World -  directly addressed by Jesus - Mtn sermon

Do Not Worry

25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[a]?
28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

How will I get through....???
I don't have enough today how do I address this?
look at the flowers of the field....
There is a great Freedom of Trust and in trusting in the NAME and Character of Jesus.
Built on the testimony of promise in the Scriptures and in our own testimonies, we rise into greater measures of freedom, love and generosity by faith and trust in the never changing character of the Lord Jesus.

Prayer and anxious? - When you're in a fix - Philippians 4:6  Be anxious for nothing, but in all things through prayers and supplications make your requests known to God.
Trust and believe - John 14:1
Peace - Isaiah 26:3  Perfected in trust and focus in his presence.

4. Do You Have a Rooted Faith? -  the flash of spiritual life is awesome.  Getting saved.  Hearing a new prophetic word.  Seeing the Lord move.  Spiritual Encounter is the waking up part of what is to become a life of walking in the Spirit.  Rooting and establishing in the love of Jesus is the life we are learning to live.
A resurrected life informed in the Word and Spirit and rich in the mind of Christ.
The more we root and establish in the love of Jesus the more find the strength, peace, joy to walk in power in this fallen world.

We need to root ourselves.
In what?

Rooted and established in love - Ephesians 3:14-21
The dirt where our roots go deep is in the Love of God in Christ Jesus.
Rooted in the Word  - Col 3:16-17
Rooted in Abiding presence - John 15

The abiding grace rooted in the love of Jesus is able to keep us close, alive, living and active in the word of God and the voice of the Spirit.
Being near to Jesus we reflect the light and glory of his Gospel of freedom, righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

5) Stock choking - Just hearing the word - but not receiving it with joy.
Don't be deceived.  Sitting in church or any Christian gathering and simply hearing the word does not qualify us for eternal life.  We must hear it and do it.  James 1:22-25

Christian "Voice" is a megladon of volume and  a mirco of "doing" these days.

We can listen to teaching all day long and never do a thing with any of it.

Lulled to sleep, we believe what is said and so count ourselves part of it.  This is a deception in itself. Paul says of such people they are...
"always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth. 8Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these men oppose the truth.      2 Timothy 3:7

Piling up knowledge without love leads to pride and religion.   Love is action.  We know we've been loved when we've been loved!  Knowledge puffs us up.  Love builds us up.  The volumes of teaching on the radio in one day is enough to fuel and feed millions but the real time effect is lacking.  Why?

The devil believes in God.  He knows he exists. He sees the Father in all glory and power, but he does not obey him or serve him.
Love and faith are demonstrated in reality.  They are knowable by clear demonstration.

Don't be deceived.  Real faith is demonstrated in charity, love, service and hope.  Just like our Master, Jesus, the world can see what he teaches in the action of the ekklesia of God.
