Hearing God? Sometimes we need to dial in a new frequency

The Father is in touch with the smallest details.  So what is going on when we don't seem to hear him?

Check out this picture.  The world's smallest bouquet!  The flowers on the green plant are microscopic.  The Father made these and planted them all over the desert near my house.

When we can't hear God like we did even a short time ago.....

Sometimes we need to dial in a new frequency

I think there are four areas to consider in expanding your "range of hearing"
 First a story.

My German short-hair pointer, Abigail Frolichiet Reynolds, is trained to hunt on an English whistle.  It is nearly silent to the human ear.  The frequency is outside the normal range our ears can hear.   But Abby hears it over a mile away!

She knows when to turn, head back my way, and a few other things when I blow  the whistle.  She hears the frequency and the different tones and locks in.

As we follow the Lord we often run our "range of hearing" into the ground.  Over and over and over we seek the Lord in the same way.    Yet he is such a creative God.   Our culture, family, spiritual family all teach us to pursue the Lord in a specific way.   Break out.  Try something new.   Learn from a source far outside your spiritual stream.

I spent 4 days in a Dominican Retreat Center in the desert of Southern California.  Wow. What a time with God.  The whole atmosphere was dedicated to seeking him, finding him, knowing him.  Break out.  Try something new.

Over the course of my walk with the Lord I have focused on learning new frequencies of his voice.    Things get quiet and I jump into another form and listen to the new frequencies.   My ears are fresh not worn out to the new sound.

Think about it.  If you pound the same tones, same food, same routine day in and day out you start loosing the taste that made those things so stimulating and alive.

God is speaking in 1000's of frequencies all the time.

Heaven never sleeps.  Worship is 24/7 there.
God is speaking in...
Creation
Our friends and family of faith
His anointed Servants
Through music, art, writing, movement and sound
Always and forever in his Scripture
But foremost and completely......IN HIS SON

In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways,

but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe.

First place to dust off and have a look -  Check the frequency of your heart and first love in Christ.

It is not hard for our the eyes of our hearts to drift and loose sight of Jesus.  It is very easy to slide off the narrow way.  The narrow way is deliberate.  Sometimes it seems like you can't go on without squeezing through, doing serious face time or resting deeply in his love and presence.  As we put off taking time for some critical focus, we continue drifting and getting dull.   Walking in the Spirit and following Jesus is moment to moment.  Feeling we need time off from first love fires only points out that grace, mercy and love need to find a deeper place in our hearts.   Relationship with Jesus is a wild ride of never ending love and forward expansion.

Jesus is our inheritance.  He is everything.  He is our strength and encouragement.  There is sufficent grace to walk in all circumstances with Jesus in full devotion and love.   Our hearts were made to be ONE with him as he is ONE with the Father.   Check your first love frequency.  Is Jesus the very heart beat of your life?

Check the frequency of your heart.   Are you hearing the Father?
If not break away and throw yourself into the word, worship and some resting in his presence.   Stop the drift right away.  Your eternal joy is riding on the steady flow of communion with Jesus.
