Defy Gravity III - Fear of the Holy Spirit? Is that Fear of Jesus?

Of all the fears one can have,
the fear of the Holy Spirit are possibly the most devastating.

I've seen people so uncomfortable with the moving and atmosphere of the Spirit that they literally want to run.

I get it.
The Spirit does things that cause the natural mind to wonder and be unnerved.   The offense of the natural mind at the things of God is real.  Yet, the Holy Spirit is such a kind and loving person.  Welcoming and open, warm and loving, he creates opportunity for us to surrender and give our lives to him at real points of pain, brokenness and need for forgiveness.

That is probably the scary point.  We understand that we are known as we really are.
We spend so much time and energy covering up who we really are to be accepted, loved, encouraged.  We sell our souls out to find some peace in this world that steals, kills and destroys Possibly we build a pseudo person that the Holy Spirit won't let us keep?

I've seen it so many times. Delusion.  People come to the boarders of a boarder-less country; a life in Christ, a life of truth and spirit, and they turn away.  There are too many unknowns staring them in the face and they don't see Jesus clearly enough to overcome the noise.  There are a 1000 reasons.

The bottom line: We defy the gravity of the world order, the system designed to hold us away from God, surrendered to the flesh and submitted to the enemies dominion, when we surrender to Jesus.

There are a few times I have experienced a sense of a boarder in Holy Spirit moves.
1. The unexplained power and workings of the Spirit in revival meetings.  When people are falling down, the Spirit is moving in a large room, people are crying, laughing, shrieking and lying on the floor immovable under the weight of glory.  It can be a bit unnerving to those who have no idea what is going on.  When different healings are occurring and demons are manifesting,  it gets even more interesting.  Definitely the flesh is not comfortable in such Spirit empowered environments.   So we may sense fear.  Or at least a sense of our boarders, of being uncomfortable.

2.  The demonstration of power over demons.
In Uganda during crusade we encountered possessed individuals who were completely under the control of demonic forces.  They could not control their bodies, voice, anything. I have cast out demons in America on many occasions and a few with this level of possession.  It's all over the New Testament and the ministry of Jesus, demons are real.  Jesus came to destroy such dominion and chains in peoples lives.  The average believer is totally unfamiliar and has never seen anything like an exorcism.  In this case ignorance is not bliss.  It leaves people enslaved to the captivity and dominion of darkness.  Every believer is empowered by Jesus to cast out demons.  It is a core sign of the presence of his rule and reign.  And it can be a wild and eye opening experience.   For the most part TV has set the pace and given us a grid for the demonic.  It is completely wrong and glorifies the enemy.  A whole different reality is present in us and through Jesus in confronting demonic forces.

3. The supernatural experiences and encounters that shake our world.
Dreams that lead to all kinds of breakthrough and action in the Kingdom are common today.  Prophetic direction and insight is a powerful blessing to those walking in the Spirit.  Basically, the experiences of those we read about in the Scripture are the common experiences of those who pursue the Lord Jesus in the Kingdom life.  We are supernatural people in a natural world.  We carry the Kingdom Jesus preached and demonstrated.  I have many testimonies at my web site www.jeffreynoldsministries.com  and in blogs of supernatural healing and wonders experienced in the Lord's Spirit.  Stories and testimonies pages.

Peter experienced this on the boat after the big catch.
"Go away from me Lord, I am a sinful man".  Luke 5:8
Overwhelming revelation of who Jesus was and what he looked like in comparison, he saw into the eternal.  Sinful. Not measuring up.  Yet Jesus invited him into a new life at that point.  Beautiful.  He surrendered and fell into Christ Jesus.
The world seeks to destroy us at moments like these;
sowing into us condemnation and shame.

Jesus set us free at moments like this.

Free into eternal life and the hope of eternal freedom,
we see it and he blesses us with the faith and grace to go forward.

To defy the gravity of a world caught in the dominion of Satan, we need a power much greater.  We have such power in Christ through the Holy Spirit. We experience this when we find ourselves in environments charged with faith and the power of the Holy Spirit.

It is a true heart breaker to see the Spirit open up peoples hearts, meet them in deep places of love and freedom and then for them to run away in fear.

Deserves NO Place in our hearts
Fear closes off the move of God in us and our spiritual families.
The demoniac is radically set free and (Mark 5:1-20) a whole town says "go away" to Jesus.  And he does.
The visitations of God are conditional.  We receive him and the Kingdom and those he sends.  He is a King not a collaborator.  He is orchestrating plans in freedom and power all over the globe right now.   Who is welcoming his might and truth to set captives free and bind up the broken heart? (Isaiah 61)

Jesus lets us run.   In his wisdom he sees much farther than our limited scope.   The Father knows the plans he has for us. (Jeremiah 29:11-13)

We can walk in promise into any situation and be at rest and peace through the Holy Spirit.

“I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. 13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14 He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you."  John 16:12-14

The key is to never give way to fear.  Don't let the gravity of the world, FEAR, guide you in any way when it comes to the workings of the Holy Spirit and his power.

PROMISE mixed with faith connects us to the Father's deepest plans and power.
In Christ, if we hold on, we overcome just like him.
He is in us.
Stay in the game.
Be bold and courageous.
Don't shrink in fear from anything.
Let the peace of Christ richly dwell in you.
Go back to the word for understanding.
And "having done all, TO STAND" (Eph 6:10f)
